Albertina Saravia-Enriquez is a graduate of the Faculty of History, University of San Carlos of Guatemala, lecturer and author of several articles and books on indian life. This English edition of the Popol Wuh is a translation from Miss Saravia's Spanish version, published by Editorial Poria, Mexico, -a best seller that has been reprinted more than fourteen times and distributed throughout Latin America. The Popol Wuh is regarded all over the world as one of the most important works in the literature of the Americas, because it contains fragments of cosmogony religion, mythology, as well as the traditions relating to the migrations and the history of the pre-Columbian world. What makes this particular version of the Popol Wuh so unique is the author's careful selection from the drawings of the Mayan Codices. The pages of this book resemble those of the Mayan Codices: the Tro-Cortesianus, the Peresianus, and the Dresdensis.
